Peel Beyond the Surface. Question Everything. That is easy to put on a homepage and harder to hold to, so here is what we actually do, in terms specific enough that you can hold us to them.

Who we are

We are an independent publication covering technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain, startups and business, published from Metro Manila, Philippines. We are not owned by, funded by, or operated on behalf of any company we write about. Where a relationship exists — an investor, a partner, a sponsor — we disclose it in the article itself, not in a footnote nobody reads.

How we report

We attribute. Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it. Anonymous bylines are used only for staff summaries of public announcements, and are labelled as such.

We name sources where we can. Anonymity is granted when someone would face real consequences for speaking, not for convenience. When we grant it, we say why in the article.

We verify before we publish. Claims of fact are checked against primary sources — filings, documents, and people with direct knowledge — not against other outlets' coverage. Where we cannot confirm something, we say so rather than implying it.

We seek comment. Anyone facing criticism in an article gets a fair chance to respond before publication, and their response is included. If they decline, we say that too.

We link out. When we cite a report, a filing, or another outlet's scoop, we link to it and credit it by name.

AI and how we use it

We use AI tools for research assistance, transcription, and drafting suggestions. We do not publish AI-generated articles under a human byline. A person is responsible for every article we publish: they verified the facts in it, and they answer for them.

Advertising and sponsored content

Sponsored content is labelled Sponsored in the article itself, not only in the metadata. Advertisers do not see articles before publication, do not choose what we cover, and cannot have coverage removed. Buying an advertisement buys an advertisement.

Where an article contains affiliate links we say so at the top. Affiliate arrangements never determine whether a product gets a favourable review. Our advertising page sets out the commercial side.

Gifts, travel and events

We do not accept payment for coverage. Where a company covers travel or accommodation for us to attend an event, we disclose it in any article that results. Review units are returned or disclosed. Our staff do not hold positions in companies they cover, and disclose any they hold in adjacent ones.

Corrections

We get things wrong, and when we do we fix them visibly rather than quietly. Our Corrections Policy sets out how, and how to tell us.

Reader contributions

We accept press releases, story tips and event submissions through our contact form and event submission form. Receiving something does not commit us to publishing it. Every event submission is reviewed by a person before it appears.
