Nerds & Voices Alliance combines technology and digital storytelling to make the Philippines' 2027 budget easier to track.

BetterGov.ph and Creators Against Corruption Join Forces to Monitor 2027 Budget

NEWS | BetterGov.ph and Creators Against Corruption have teamed up in a new group called the Nerds & Voices Alliance. They announced it on October 30. Their goal is simple. Use technology to look closely at the proposed 2027 national budget and share what they find with everyone. They say work has already started, and this is only the first step.

The tech comes from BetterGov.ph, a volunteer group of software engineers and data scientists who build free, open-source tools for government records. Their systems pull in budget entries and procurement records, compare them with past spending, and flag items that look strange. Creators Against Corruption is a nonpartisan network of online storytellers and tech advocates. They will turn those findings into short videos for TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

The tools behind it

The centerpiece is the 2027 Budget Radar, a shared pipeline that flags questionable fund shifts, repeated flood control items, unprogrammed funds and contractor records. BetterGov.ph will also host public dashboards where anyone can search the budget for their own district or town. Creators will get plain data sheets, checked charts and interactive calculators. Findings, live talks and video explainers are expected in the coming weeks, with more releases as the budget bill moves through Congress.

BMN’s view is that good data only matters when people see it. Code sitting in a repository helps few, but a clear video on your phone can reach millions. So do not just scroll past. Track the numbers, watch what gets flagged, ask questions and share what you learn. A flagged item is not proof of wrongdoing, so check the facts first and then speak up. Public money belongs to the public, and change starts when ordinary people act on what they see.

Yes, the tools are open for everyone to use, and now that nerds and creators have joined forces, who will help reach every Filipino, and who will join the movement next?
